The employer's own description
Overview The high energy physics group at Tufts University invites applications for a Postdoctoral Research Associate to work on the ATLAS experiment at the LHC and future collider R&D. The Tufts ATLAS group pursues an exciting and diverse research program, with physics interests ranging from precision measurements of QCD to searches for new phenomena, including both targeted and model-agnostic approaches. Building on its expertise and leadership in the ATLAS muon spectrometer, the group is developing a new program in Trigger/DAQ for the HL-LHC upgrade. The group is also actively involved in the development and application of advanced AI/ML techniques, including novel unfolding methods and AI-on-chip R&D for future particle physics detectors. What You'll Do The successful candidate will play a leading role in ATLAS physics analyses, the upgrade and commissioning of the ATLAS TDAQ system, and future collider R&D efforts. The candidate will have opportunities to contribute to new and ongoing research directions, develop original analysis and AI/ML tools, and mentor graduate and undergraduate students. What We're Looking For Applicants must have, or be about to earn, a Ph.D. in experimental particle physics. Preferred qualifications include experience with an LHC experiment, AI/ML development, trigger and data acquisition systems, detector instrumentation, and hardware-oriented programming. The successful candidate may be based at either CERN or Tufts University in the Boston area, with residence at CERN preferred. Applicants should submit a 1-page cover letter, CV, and 2-3 page research statement, and arrange for three letters of reference to be submitted. The research statement should describe the applicant’s research experience and interests, future research goals, and approach to mentorship, collaboration, and scientific leadership. Applications received by November 1 will receive full consideration, and review of applications will continue until the position is filled. Pay Range Minimum $67,500.00, Midpoint $67,500.00, Maximum $67,500.00 Salary is based on related experience, expertise, and internal equity; generally, new hires can expect pay between the minimum and midpoint of the range.
