The employer's own description
Start your career in offshore wind: from tender to project abroad At Ballast Nedam we build the foundations of the energy transition, literally. Our wind story started in 1993, when we realised our first wind farms in Dutch and Scandinavian waters. Since then, we have installed more than 550 wind. Today our wind team delivers the engineering and installation of specialist offshore wind foundations, Balance of Plant (BoP) installations, such as at Maasvlakte 2 and Windplanblauw. Moreover we focus on the sustainable decommissioning and recycling of end-of-life offshore wind farms. As Junior Project Engineer Wind you start at our head office in Utrecht, helping our tender team win new wind projects. When we win, you go abroad with the project and help build what you designed on paper. Your responsibilities You are the technical support of our wind tender team. You help answer the big questions in every offer: how do we install it; how long does it take and what does it cost? You work alongside experienced project engineers, method engineers and estimators, and learn how a strong, buildable and competitive wind offer comes together. After award, your role moves to the wind farm project abroad. There you support the project team with engineering during execution and see your methods, plannings and calculations come to life. You are curious, eager to learn and ready to take on more responsibility with every project. Key Responsibilities Your work is varied. One day you sketch the installation sequence for offshore foundations; the next you build a planning around weather windows or work out the cost of an installation vessel and crane spread with our estimators. Helping develop installation methods for offshore wind foundations (monopiles, gravity-based foundations, jackets) and BoP scopes such as cables and scour protection. Building tender plannings, including installation sequences, durations and weather windows. Delivering technical input for cost estimates: vessels, equipment, materials and manpower. Requesting and comparing quotes and technical information from suppliers and subcontractors. Identifying technical risks and opportunities and proposing smart alternatives. Preparing clear technical documents and tender deliverables. Moving to the wind farm project abroad after award and supporting engineering during execution. What We Are Looking For A completed bachelor’s or master’s degree (e.g. Mechanical, Civil, Maritime or Offshore Engineering). 0–3 years of experience; a relevant internship or graduation project in offshore wind is a plus. An analytical mindset and a feel for planning and numbers. Willingness to work abroad for longer periods once a tender is won. Good command of English and Dutch. What We Offer The opportunity to work on complex international marine infrastructure projects. A dynamic and international working environment. Collaboration with experienced engineers and project teams within Ballast Nedam. Opportunities for professional growth and international career development. Competitive salary and benefits package.
