TransCore (TRN), a subsidiary of ST Engineering, is seeking a full-time Associate Accounting Coordinator to join our team in White Marsh, Maryland. Job Summary: The Associate Accounting Coordinator computes, classifies, records, and verifies numerical data for maintaining accounting records by performing the following duties. Pay Range: $20 - $21/hr., based upon qualifications and experience. Qualifications: To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. Other duties may be assigned. Process and reconcile daily check deposit and lockbox activity. Review and balance deposited check totals against bank reports and the Back-Office System. Monitor lockbox files and deposit transmissions to ensure timely and accurate processing. Research and resolve deposit discrepancies, posting exceptions, and unapplied check payments. Coordinate with MDTA Service Centers regarding deposit discrepancies, missing check documentation, returned items, and processing issues. Process payments, payment corrections, adjustments, and reversals in accordance with established procedures. Prepare and maintain daily deposit balancing reports and supporting documentation. Reconcile outstanding deposit variances and ensure timely resolution. Maintain compliance with internal controls, audit requirements, and dual-custody procedures for check handling and deposit processing. Log and monitor returned checks, rejected deposits, and related exceptions, ensuring appropriate follow-up. Maintain organized records and supporting documentation in accordance with company retention policies and audit requirements. Collaborate with Customer Service, Finance, and Operations teams to resolve payment-related issues and ensure accurate and timely account posting. Responsible for understanding and meeting daily, weekly, and monthly performance metrics and standards; informing team lead and/or supervisor when issues arise that impact metrics Cross-Train on various job duties within the department Perform other duties as directed by TransCore management Supervisory Responsibilities: This job has no supervisory responsibilities. Education : Accounting degree or high school diploma with 0-2 years of relevant work experience. Skill: Solid keyboard skills. Intermediate knowledge of Microsoft Excel and Word. Team player, strong organizational skills, proactive and conscientious. Accounting degree or high school diploma with a minimum of 2 years of bookkeeping/office work experience. Job Complexity: Works on assignments that are semi-routine in nature but recognizes the need for occasional deviation from accepted practice. Supervision: Close supervision involving detailed instructions and frequent checking of work quality and performance. Experience: Typically requires a minimum of 1 - 2 years of related experience. Language Skills: Ability to read and comprehend simple instructions, short correspondence, and memos. Ability to write simple correspondence. Ability to effectively present information in one-on-one and small group situations to customers, clients, and other employees of the organization. Mathematical Skills: Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals. Ability to compute rate, ratio, and percent and to draw and interpret bar graphs. Reasoning Ability: Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out detailed but uninvolved written or oral instructions. Ability to deal with problems involving a few concrete variables in standardized situations.
